In a continuing effort to recognize outstanding student citizenship, the faculty of Central Aroostook Junior-Senior High School announces that Breanne York and Rachael Donahue have been selected as the April “Students of the Month.” They were selected in recognition of their commitment to the pillar of character.
Breanne is a member of the eighth-grade class and lists English, reading and art as her favorite subjects. She is a member of the junior high basketball and soccer teams, yearbook committee and chorus. Breanne enjoys sports, horseback riding, and spending time with her family. She would like to go to college someday and possible work with horses and/or become a veterinarian. Breanne is the daughter of Brent and Kay York.
Rachael is a member of the senior class and lists anatomy and senior English as her favorite subjects. She is a member of the varsity cheerleading and softball teams, Future Farmers of America, and peer tutoring. In her spare time, Rachael enjoys spending time with her family and friends, and also likes being employed by TAMC, working as a certified nurse’s assistant. This fall, she will attend Husson University to major in nursing. Rachael is the daughter of Laurin and Stephen Donahue.
PTCO Fund-raiser
The Fort Street PTCO is planning a pizza night fund-raiser in conjunction with Al’s Diner to help raise funds for the playground at the Elementary School. PTCO members will be delivering pizzas ordered from Al’s Diner Tuesday, June 2 from 4-8 p.m.
All tips, as well as a portion of the proceeds raised, will go directly toward a piece of playground equipment. Orders will be on a first-come (or call), first-served basis. Orders may be placed by calling 429-8186.
Dedication Planned
On Sunday, June 7, in conjunction with Youth Appreciation Sunday (ages infant through college), East Ridge Union Church will be dedicating the new stained glass window in memory of former pastor Steve Perry during the morning service at 10 a.m. The window was made possible, in part, thanks to a generous donation from Lois Ladner, Steve’s aunt, to the memorial fund. Pastor Perry passed away in September 2002. All are invited to attend.
Rotary Club
The Mars Hill Rotary Club met at the Aroostook Health Center Tuesday, May 19 at 6:30 a.m. The special speakers were Rotarian Kelly Lundeen, Melissa Graham, Vicki Jackson and Connie Durost. They are all employed at the Aroostook Health Center, and spoke of the “pot of gold“ that Mars Hill has. They spoke about the many things that the employees do to enhance the lives of the residents. The entire staff goes above and beyond in the care they give. The facility is five-star rated.
Library Happenings
On Saturday from 9 a.m.-noon, the library holds cribbage games, so bring your friends and your boards. The more the merrier.

The library is interested in offering computer skills programs for community members. Please call the library for information or to sign up for a class.

A little birdie told me last summer that there will be a surprise 50th birthday for Carrie Bradbury Friday, May 29. You’ll have to see Carrie (the little birdie) for more details! Happy Birthday, Carrie!

The Little Miss Bridgewater pageant did not have placements for the Princesses. There was only one winner picked from the field of five. I apologize for the misunderstanding.
Bridgewater Historical Association
On Thursday evenings from 6-9 p.m., it’s music by “Outside In.” Grab your dancing shoes and come enjoy yourself. They play a wide variety of music including country, old time rock ’n roll, 60s pop, and standards. Refreshments will be available at the hall.
A Line Dance Class, which began May 20, is held Wednesday nights from 7-8:30 p.m.
Bridgewater Community Club
The Bridgewater Community Club continues to meet on the last Thursday of each month with some exceptions. All are welcome. For more information, contact Pat Lenentine at 429-9444.
Bridgewater Creative Crafting
On the first and third Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the Civic Community Center in Bridgewater, crafters are encouraged to join together to work on various projects.
Bring your own supplies and projects as you share your knowledge of various crafts. Work together or individually with quilting, knitting, sewing, embroidery, crocheting, scrapbooking, etc. Everyone is welcome!
