HARMONY, N.J. – Patricia I. Collins, 75, died May 25, 2009, surrounded by her loving family at home, after her courageous battle with cancer. She was born March 28, 1934, in Monarda, a daughter of the late Ransom and Irene Russell Bradeen.
She and her husband, J. Richard Collins, would've celebrated 54 years of marriage June 4, 2009. She graduated in 1950 from Sherman High School, Sherman, Maine. She graduated from Winthrop Community Hospital School of Nursing, Winthrop, Mass., where she got her licensed practical nursing degree. She was a past secretary of Harmony Township PTA, a Meals on Wheels volunteer in the Phillipsburg, N.J. area for more than 25 years and was a member of Harmony Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed her family, grandchildren and great-grandson, reading and spending her summers at the family camp on Plunkett Pond, Benedicta.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by sons, Gregory and his wife, Linda, of Hellertown, Pa., and Mark Sr. and his wife, Pauline, of Harmony, N.J.; daughter, Ruth Ann, wife of John Latourette, of Harmony, N.J.; eight grandchildren, Maribeth Collins Maldovan, wife of Kurt Maldovan, Matthew Collins, Amber Collins Taylor, wife of Brian Taylor, 2nd Lt. Mark Collins Jr., James Collins, Bethany Collins, Ashley Latourette and John Latourette Jr.; four step-grandchildren, Melissa Watson and her fiancé, Mike Bugbee, Michael Watson, Andrew Watson and Jessica Watson; a great-grandson, Daryl Taylor; and a sister, Audrey Chambers of Crystal. She will be missed by family and friends, especially by those who considered her a second mother or second grandmother. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Joan Pratt; and her brothers, Rodney Bradeen, Fred Humphrey and Arthur "Jack" Humphrey.
There will be no calling hours. A memorial service to celebrate her life was held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 30, at Harmony Presbyterian Church, 2727 Belvidere Road, Harmony, N.J.
