One of the e-mails I received from SCORE two weeks ago was titled "Jelly Belly Tips" — and I've kept it on my desktop ever since for two reasons: One: The enticing title. I confess, it makes me hungry and annoyed with my pooch and we all took a bit of time to editorialize in the office what our own jelly belly tips would be, not particularly small business-related.
Two: The content of the article — short, concise, conscious driven by someone invested and successful in their business. Such universal stuff! Herm Rowland, the president of Jelly Belly Candy Co. was asked what three things have helped to make him successful? His answers were:
1. Maintain quality in products and business practices; 2. Tell the truth — be honest; and 3. Make sure what you're doing feels right in your gut.
