LTJG Earnest Matthew Thompson

Image    LTJG Earnest M. Thompson entered the U.S. Navy in Dec. 1993 at the age of 19. He attended Recruit Training at the Recruit Training Center, in Great Lakes Il. Upon completion of this training, he reported on board the USS New Orleans (LPH-1) where he was assigned to the Auxiliaries Division and earned both his ESWS and EAWS warfare designations.     In January 1996, Thompson earned a Class “A” school and returned to Service School Command, in Illinois. Upon graduation in June 1996, he transferred to USS McKee (AS-41) where he also served in the Auxiliaries Division. He then reported to Shore Intermediate Maintenance Activity (SIMA) in San Diego where he served in the submarine maintenance division.
    In December of 2002, Thompson reported to USS Comstock (9LSD-45) and served as the main propulsion and auxiliaries chief petty officer where he completed three deployments to the Arabian Gulf in support of the Global War on Terrorism.
    In February of 2006, LTJG Thompson earned his commission as an engineering limited duty officer and accepted orders to the USS Bunker Hill (CG52) where he is currently serving as the main propulsion assistant.
    LTJG Thompson’s personal awards include two Navy and Marine Corps Commendation medals; five Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals; four Battle “E” awards; four Good Conduct medals; Sailor of the Year in 2003 and 2006; as well as other unit and campaign awards.
    LTJG Thompson is the son of Earnest and Priscilla Thompson of Connor. His son, Mitchell, also resides in Connor and his daughter, Gracie, lives in New Sweden.
