Patten Senior Citizens met at Meadowbrook Manor on July 21, with ten members and two guests present.
The Lord’s prayer was led by Joyce Harvey and recited by members present.
After the potluck meal, President Jackie Palmer opened the business meeting with the flag salute.
Readings were done by Annette Noyes, Jackie Palmer and Annie Lord.
A card was signed and sent to Linda Goodall.
The birthday cake was made by Gloria Noyes.
Hostesses were Nettie Shorey and Annette Noyes.
The next meeting will be on August 4. The Game will be played.

On July 22 the Happy Losers meeting was held at the Congregational Church vestry in Island Falls. We opened our meeting with our pledge and roll call. We had 13 ladies weigh-in and 13 attend our class.
Lois Green lost the most weight for the week, and Jackie Pratt was runner-up.
Secretary and treasurer reports were given for the week. The Turkey Dogs are still winning in our contest, but the Lean Hamburgers are getting closer.
Riva Hawkes led the program for the week. Her topic was on article about honey, which was very interesting.

Take Off Pounds Sensibly, Chapter 233, of Houlton met at the Aldergate building on High Street for its July 24 meeting.
There were 22 ladies who weighed in; three of them were KOPS.
Leader Joyce Estey was back from her weekend away and she opened the meeting with roll call.
The weekly dues went up with the first meeting in July, so we were prepared for the increase.
Joanne Scott gave the weight recorder’s report. Barb Grant was the loser of the week.
Donna Parent, in charge of the skinny dish for the group, called the winning number and Opal LeBlond took the prize.
Joyce read a letter from Paulette Soliere stating the August 15 workshop is in Connor at the Sacred Heart Church. The workshop is always a fun time and for those who want to attend, should keep the date in mind.
Since the leader will be away next Friday, Denise Kinney volunteered to be responsible for the program. Joyce announced that Joanne has the door key, so everybody will know.
Barb Grant will look into copying by-laws from Vicki Little so everybody will have a copy. Brenda Lacostic passed around a magazine purchased at the local Shop ‘n Save store; the magazine contained a lot of recipes and really good material at $3.99, called “Biggest Loser.”
Joyce’s program was in the form of true or false questions and answers. For instance: don’t eat between meals–false; don’t eat before bedtime–false; breakfast should never be skipped–true. And there were many other instances.
The program ended with a few minutes of exercises led by Barbara Troy.

Weigh-in is from 8-8:45 every Friday morning. The meeting starts at 9 o’clock and is usually ended an hour later.
