Bite tour volunteers needed

Event organizers of the highly anticipated Tour de La Valleé are finalizing plans for the 19th annual bicycling event, to be held Aug. 16.

Coordinators are inviting interested residents of Aroostook County an opportunity to volunteer a few hours of their time.
With such a large area to cover, the 100-mile race offers a variety of rest areas which are in need of several volunteers per location.
Other volunteer opportunities include assisting the morning of the race, where registration will take place in the back parking lot of Northern Maine Medical Center.
Another need for volunteers includes the SAG vehicles. These are the vehicles that will maintain pace with the riders and offer assistance when in need. Some scenarios include bike problems and riders unable to continue.
At the completion of the race, a barbecue will be provided for volunteers and Tour participants.         Anyone interested in volunteering for this event should contact NMMC’s Volunteer Coordinator, Charles Bard at 834-1945.
Proceeds from the Tour de La Valleé are used to benefit the Edgar J. Paradis Cancer Fund.
