Celebrating 25 years’ of business

SMYRNA — It’s a celebration year at RC Logging Supplies in Smyrna. Ross Crandall and his family will be celebrating 25 years’ of business.
Crandall spent 13 years working in the logging industry and has applied his knowledge and experience   to his business. He opened RC Logging Supplies in 1984 after years of working in the Maine woods, applying his expertise to the Smyrna Mills business that today offers one of the largest inventories of lawn, garden and logging equipment in northern Maine.
Within a few years, RC Logging Supplies was already expanding their business by adding lawn and garden equipment. They continued their growth in the 1990s by adding more to their product lines and to their space including a 5,000square-foot service department.
RC Logging Supplies offers retail sales and service for small engines, lawn and garden supplies, logging supplies to welding supplies and generator sales and service.
“We have just added the KIPOR brand of generators,” added Crandall. RC Logging Supplies also offers consumers outdoor boilers, pellet stoves, wood stoves to corn/pellet boilers. RC Logging Supplies not only has quality equipment and competitive prices, but they also offer excellent service.
“The customer is number one,” Crandall said. “When a customer comes to my store to buy a product, any product, the customer is expecting service after the sale. This is something we pride ourselves in … service.”
Crandall had four fulltime employees working with him, Sally his wife who has been there 25 years; his son Joshua who has been with the family company 12 years, Nick for two years and Andrew  for a year-and-a-half.
RC Logging Supplies is available six days a week to complete all types of small engine repair. And even if the equipment wasn’t purchased there, Crandall said they still welcome customers to bring it in for service.
“I think the secret to success is a lot of long hours. You really have to dedicate yourself,” Crandall said. “And in our business, we get a lot of repeat customers and we see new people all the time, but we still have a good following with people we’ve done business with for a number of years.”
