PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — A walk-a-thon to help children with dyslexia will be held in Presque Isle on Sunday, Sept. 13, beginning at 1 p.m. Registration will take place from 12:30 – 1 p.m. at Netherland Office Products, located next to the Public Safety Building on North St. The walk route will follow the Bike Path from Netherland Office Products to Mantle Lake Park.
The walk-a-thon is sponsored by the Aroostook Masonic Scottish Rite Club, with assistance from the Aroostook Teen Leadership Camp Program. All funds raised through the walk-a-thon will help to support treatment for dyslexic students available through the 32nd  Degree Masonic Learning Center for Children, Inc., in Bangor, the nearest such facility to Aroostook County.
Dyslexia is a language-processing disorder that can’t be cured but can be overcome. The program offered at the Masonic Learning Center offers the most effective treatment of its kind in battling this disorder.
Pledge forms for the walk-a-thon are available in most schools in central Aroostook County having students in middle and/or high school. Pledge forms may also be obtained by calling Jack Foster, Aroostook Teen Leadership Camp Program coordinator, at 498-6431.
The walk-a-thon will be held rain or shine.
