NEW SMYRNA BEACH, FL – Kathleen “Kay” Boone Wynn Grant, 87, went to be with her heavenly Father and her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 26, 2009, while residing at her home in New Smyrna Beach, Florida.
A Presque Isle native, she was a member of the United Methodist Church there. How can we describe Mother? Full of life, full of joy, bubbling over with laughter? Yes, but there is more! Loving mother to four boys who adored her, gentle beyond description, always thinking the best of everyone she met? Yes, but there is more! Deeply loved by her first husband, Everett “Bill” Wynn, who predeceased her? Blessed by the Lord with a second marriage to her high school sweetheart, Lucian B. Grant, who also predeceased her? They had a wonderful life together, but there is more! A loving sister to Dorothy Boone Kidney, who also predeceased her? An adoring daughter of her father, blacksmith Frank Boone? Our mother, Kay, was all of these things, but there’s more!
Loved and respected by those who worked with her during the many years she was office manager at Metropolitan Life in Presque Isle? Certainly, but there is more! A peacemaker, confidante and friend to many of her co-workers? Kay was a joy to work for and with, but there is more!
Constantly in motion, even knitting or crocheting as she rocked in her chair in the evening? Always taking care of her beloved children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren? Welcoming daughters-in-law with loving, open arms? Kay was a gift to us all.
Cooking delicious meals and baking lemon meringue pies and wonderful whoopie pies? Growing gardens burgeoning with vegetables? Filling shelves with her canned delights? Winning Northern Maine Fair blue ribbons galore? The judges agreed with us, Mother!
Oh, Mother, how we will miss you and your loving hands and heart!
Kay is survived by her four sons, Jeffrey Wynn of Farmingdale, Maine; Kevin Wynn of Braintree, Massachusetts; Steven Wynn of Presque Isle, Maine; and Scott Wynn of Saco, Maine; her step-daughter, Virginia Scoggins of Dexter, Oregon, six grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.
We will remember you, Mother, at a memorial service at Grant Memorial United Methodist Church, Presque Isle, Maine on October 10, 2009, at 11:30 a.m., followed by a reception at the church’s fellowship hall. A graveside service will be held at Fairmount Cemetery in Presque Isle at 2 p.m. on that date.
