CARIBOU — The Aroostook County middle school cross country championships, held Wednesday at Caribou High School, showcased the abilities of a variety of talented runners from Caribou, Presque Isle, Limestone and Union 121 (Woodland, Stockholm and New Sweden).
Running in warm, overcast conditions athletes posted impressive times in the meet. Limestone’s Chelsey Pelkey was the top girls runner, finishing in 15 minutes, 4 seconds. Caribou’s Ryan Washington was the top boys runner at 12:41.
The Presque Isle girls and Caribou boys collected championship trophies. The girls team scores were Presque Isle 32, Caribou 37, and Limestone 77. The boys team scores Caribou 21, Presque Isle 35, and Union 115.
Neither the boys, nor the girls squads from Union 121 had the necessary number of five runners to score as a team.
