‘A Walk in the Woods’ was great

To the editor:
I had the pleasure of joining a number of folks this past Sunday for the first of what I hope is annual U.S. Forest Service program called “A Walk in the Woods” at Aroostook State Park. A good number of people showed up for the hike and it turned out to be wonderfully organized and run. The rangers were knowledgeable and fun and ready to answer questions.
I am new to Maine having recently come from Alaska and really appreciated the efforts by all involved. They had organized hikes suitable for all the age groups and skill ranges. Even “Smokey the Bear” was there.
Thank you to the organizers and a big “Atta boy” (or gal) for a successful and fun day for all.
PS Even the rain held off until after the hike.
