Caribou Firefighters rushed to the scene on the Woodland Center Road to extinguish an electrical fire. Mutual aid was provided by the Presque Isle and Washburn Fire Departments.

Caribou Fire Chief Roy Woods stated the fire was determined to be electrical and had traveled up the walls of the home and into foam insulation in the attic. “This makes for a big problem,” commented Chief Woods, “we had units back out there this morning (Tuesday) making sure there were no flare-ups.”
At the scene for two hours and 28 minutes, Chief Woods said five units were at the location and firefighters used foam and 300 gallons of water in extinguishing the electric fire. “There was a small amount of structural damage,” stated the Caribou Fire Chief, “ I would estimate damages to be at $2,000.” A small amount of smoke damage also occurred.
The owner of the insured two-story residence, Sarah Grier, and her daughter, were both home at the time of the fire. There were no injuries sustained by the occupants or by any of the firefighters at the scene.
Chief Woods stated there were working smoke detectors in the home.
Mutual-aid was provided by the Presque Isle and Washburn Fire Departments.
