Haunted Woods Walk deemed a success

Aroostook State Park is still a wonderful place to go hiking or just walking. The leaves are carpeting the paths, adding to the sense of solitude. After the Haunted Woods Walk, the natural residents of the park, squirrels, deer, birds, etcetera, are likely thankful for the peace.
The Haunted Woods Walk committee, headed by Nola Farley wants to thank all that supported the event and particularly the various businesses and groups that participated. The staff at Aroostook State Park did a lot to prepare the park for this event. Their support and help is essential to hosting the Haunted Woods Walk.
Catholic Charities of Maine, Lowe’s, Wal-Mart, MMG Insurance, UMPI’s Outdoor Adventure Program International, Aroostook Paranormal Investigation Society, Mapleton Boy Scouts, Phi Theta Kappa, Wintergreen Art Center, Carons’ Equipment Sales, MPG, Soderberg Construction, Haines Manufacturing, Jim’s Automotive, The Friends of Aroostook State Park, the Antique Tractor Club, Aroostook Lumber, Aroostook Trusses, PNM Construction, members of the Chamber of Commerce and various other individuals contributed to the “trepidation” of the evening.
Spending this time in the park and at the various other locations in the area where we can enjoy the beauty of the area remind me of all that central Aroostook has to offer. Last weekend we went to Big Rock Ski Area to view the fall foliage. Even though we were caught in a shower the scenery was majestic. Can’t wait until next year!
The display of items at the Chamber of Commerce office has changed with the seasons. I look at what is made locally and add the items to my wish list for Christmas and all gift occasions. I think an item that is handmade by someone you likely know is so much more meaningful.
As you do your holiday shopping, stop in to see what we have on display. Many of these items are available through local merchants. We just have them gathered in a tiny area for quicker viewing.
Enjoy this beautiful fall weather and take time to enjoy what we have in central Aroostook!
