The first day of hunting season was a busy one for the White family, with dad Andy doing his part, along with fellow Rotarians, serving at the early morning Hunter’s Breakfast sponsored by the Washburn Rotary. His son, Drew, joined him and they worked at the garage until noon, when the father and son team went hunting. Drew carried his 243 Rossi single shot rifle — last year’s birthday gift from his mom and dad.
Drew (the great) White (hunter) lived up to his “logo” and within a very short time, he scoped out his target and got his first deer ever, only taking two shots. The buck and three does were in a field on the Crick Road near their home. Drew’s buck weighed in at just over 124 pounds and his uncle Max Curtis dressed the deer out, with some assistance from Drew and Andy White. Also included in Drew’s hunting career was help from neighbor Jim LeClair and cousin Butch Levesque who had helped Drew site in the gun at the onset of the season and LeClair was present for the hunt.
