Viking swim team hosts MDI at Limestone pool

    LIMESTONE — Caribou’s boys and girls swim teams opened their season Saturday against one of the elite Class B squads in the state when the Vikings hosted Mount Desert Island of Bar Harbor at the Limestone-MSSM school pool. The visiting Trojans outnumbered the small Viking squad by nearly a two-to-one margin.

    MDI bested the Vikings boys 118-21, while the Trojan girls defeated Caribou 121-20.
    The individual Viking girls were:
    200 freestyle — Abby Parker, 2:34.18 (exhibition).
    50 free — 4, Janelle McGee, 40.14; 5, Sierra Theriault, 44.08; Mellissa Russ, 40.97 (exh); Rachel Wasson, 44.80 (exh); and Hansell Harley, 47.81 (exh).
    100 butterfly — 2, Wasson, 1:51.10.
    100 free — 4, Emilie Patton, 1:25.28; 5, McGee, 1:37.85; and Harley, 1:45.18 (exh).
    500 free — Parker, 7:06.23 (exh).
    200 free relay — 3, Caribou (Patton, Russ, Theriault, McGee), 2:46.60.
    100 backstroke — 3, Theriault, 1:59.01.
    100 breaststroke — 1, Patton, 1:34.50.
    The individual Viking boys results were:
    200 medley relay — Caribou (Ian Connolly, Darren Newbegin, and Devon Cote), 2:20.00 (exh).
    50 free — 2, Newbegin, 31.10; 3, Derek Page, 33.36; 4, Cote, 34.64.
    100 free — 1, Connolly, 1:07.28; 4, Newbegin, 1:12.78; 6, Cote, 1:20.32; Page, 1:24.71 (exh).
    200 free relay — 4, Caribou (Newbegin, Cote, Page, Connolly), 2:14.35.
    100 back — 3, Connolly, 1:25.44.
