Maine Public Broadcasting Network is getting into the holiday spirit, offering a variety of programs between now and Christmas, featuring a variety of topics, including the National Christmas Tree Lighting event, in Washington, D.C., scheduled to air on Thursday, Dec. 24, at 9 p.m.
One program is sure to be of interest to folks in Aroostook County.
“On Christmas Eve, we’ll be airing ‘Christmas Greetings from Aroostook. With its near guarantee of snow and an abundance of Christmas traditions, Aroostook County is a special place to visit at Christmastime,” said MPBN Board of Trustees Chair Craig Denekas, in a recent release.
The program is scheduled to air at 8:30 p.m. on WMEM, Channel 10, for those in the Presque Isle viewing area.
A wide range of holiday activities will be featured, from musical performances to parades and sleigh rides.
“This show features the Heavenly Harpers of Houlton, the joyous voices of the Caribou Choral Society, the Presque Isle Light Parade, sleigh rides in Mapleton, a Santa Lucia procession in New Sweden, and making tourtiere in The Valley,” said Denekas.
MPBN will continue the festive theme through Christmas Day.
“Don’t miss the rousing U.S. Navy Holiday Concert 2009. That will air on Christmas at 9 p.m.,” said Denekas.
