Caldwell, Martha B., 72, December 21, 2009.  Arrangements by Roy A. Green Funeral Home, Appalachia, Virginia.  Interment was held in the Glencoe Cemetery, Big Stone Gap, Virginia.
    Appalachia, Virginia – Martha B. Caldwell, 72, of Appalachia went to be with Jesus on Monday, December 21, 2009. Loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was born in Mars Hill, Maine and had resided in Appalachia for the past 42 years.
    She worked at Appalachia Insurance Agency until retirement. She was a member of the East Stone Gap United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; Merritt and Gladys Watson; brothers, Leonard, Earl, Olen and Clayton Watson.            Martha is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Robert (Bob) Caldwell of the home; daughters, Cathy Vernon and husband Terry, Robyn Gilliam and husband Bob, all of Big Stone Gap, VA; son, Mike Caldwell and wife Miranda of Appalachia, VA; six grandchildren, Matthew, Kelsey, Tyler, Heather, Robbie, and Mason; brothers, Clarence Watson and wife Lona, Elmer Watson and wife Roberta, Glenn Watson and wife Barbara, all of Mars Hill area, Maine; sister-in-law, Shirley Davidson and husband Emory of Appalachia, VA; brother-in-law, Wendell Caldwell and wife Becky of Big Stone Gap; special cousin, Ruth Mitchell and husband Frank of Maine; special friend, Peggy Good of FL; the Tuesday morning Bible Study group; several nieces, nephews and special caregiver, Nikki Zirkle of Big Stone Gap, VA.
    The family received friends at the East Stone Gap United Methodist Church from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, December 23. Funeral services followed at 8 p.m. with Dr. Ken Sprinkle officiating. Graveside services were conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Glencoe Cemetery, Big Stone Gap.  Family and friends met at church at 10:30 a.m. for the procession to the cemetery.  Roy A.
