PRESQUE ISLE — Jason Grass, of Fort Fairfield, is The Aroostook Medical Center’s January Artist of the Month. He will donate $75 from every piece sold during the month to Aroostook Cancer Care, which serves cancer patients from all over Aroostook County.
Grass moved back to Aroostook County in 2002 after being away from the area for several years. His wife, Jennifer, who had spent her entire life living in the city, viewed the County with awe and excitement. He noticed his wife’s penchant for looking at things from a new perspective and decided to capture this spirit in his photography. His work explores a variety of different angles, and many of his photographs are taken at ground level.
The couple’s lives changed drastically when Jennifer was diagnosed with a borderline ovarian tumor in 2008. Inspired by their experience and her recovery, Jason has decided to donate a portion of his art sales to support cancer services in the area.
TAMC’s Artist of the Month Program features a different local artist each month of the year. Artwork is displayed on an art wall located just inside the Pinkham Entrance at A.R. Gould Memorial Hospital. To purchase art or to learn more about TAMC’s Artist of the Month Program, call TAMC Volunteer Services at 768-4032.
