    Brewer, Iris F., 72, Blaine, January 11, 2010. A private interment will take place in the spring at Tapley Cemetery, Blaine. Arrangements are in the care of Duncan Graves Funeral Home, Presque Isle. 

 

 

    BLAINE – Iris F. Brewer, 72, passed away Monday, Jan. 11, 2010, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born May 5, 1937, in Westfield, the daughter of F. Elber and Nancy (Tarbell) Fields.
    Iris worked for many years as an educator. She was an instructor at University of Maine – Presque Isle, a student advisor at Northern Maine Community College, taught adult education for SAD 1 and SAD 42. She was a lifelong learner and loved to travel. Iris was a member of Mars Hill Senior Citizens, Red Hat Society, and was a literacy volunteer.
    She was deeply devoted to her family and will be missed by them. She is survived by a son, Elden "Denny" Brewer III and Mary of Blaine; three daughters, Cathy and her husband, Stuart Craig of Mars Hill, Christine and her husband, Bud Robbins of Mapleton, Stacey and her husband, Tom Tardiff of Blaine; five grandchildren, Rhiannon Dyer, Alton "Bud" Robbins, Locke Robbins, Tina Tardiff and Joe Tardiff; and a great-granddaughter, Macy Dyer-Hill. She also leaves behind a sister, Anna McGrath of Presque Isle; in-laws, Patricia Glidden of Mars Hill, Bill and Carol White of Crouseville; Alvin and Sylvia Pineau of East Plantation; as well as several nieces and nephews.
    In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Elden "Whitfield" Brewer Jr.; two brothers, Larry and Albert Fields; and two sisters, Lauretta Corey and Imogene Holmes.
    A memorial service was conducted noon Saturday, Jan. 16, at Westfield United Baptist Church with Pastor Jack Stewart officiating. A private interment will take place in the spring at Tapley Cemetery, Blaine. Arrangements in care of Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle.
