AAUW offers part two of series
PRESQUE ISLE – Area women are invited to attend a Feb. 25 presentation entitled, “A Woman’s Guide to Money Matters: Investing Basics for Women.” This informal presentation is the second of a three-part series on money management specifically geared toward women.
The session will take place Thursday, Feb. 25 at 7 p.m. at the University of Maine at Presque Isle Campus Center’s Alumni Lounge. The featured speaker will be Gretchen Morse, professional investment adviser with Edward Jones.
The event, co-sponsored by AAUW, Edward Jones Investments and UMPI, seeks to raise awareness among women on the vital issue of personal finances.
AAUW, long established as a leader in promoting education for women, initiated the series in an effort to help women become more knowledgeable about their own financial situations. Almost 90 percent of all women will be responsible for their own finances at some point in their lives. For those just about to graduate and enter the job market, others wondering about financing educations, thinking about retirement, or just wanting some basic guidelines, this series will try to provide information for more informed financial decisions, including the development of goals and strategies for the future, and understanding various types of investments.
In an informal lecture and discussion format, the program will provide ample opportunities for questions and answers.
The final presentation, scheduled for March 11, will include a book discussion of “The Beardstown
Ladies Stitch in Time Guide to Growing Your Nest Egg,” by Robin Dellabough with the Beardstown Ladies. Anyone who is interested is invited to attend, with no commitment required.
The series is open to the public and is appropriate for all ages. While the program is geared primarily for women, men are also welcome. For more information, please call or e-mail Gretchen Morse at 764-0802 or gretchen.morse@edwardjones.com or Pat Rathbun at 762-1791 or prathbun@maine.rr.com.
