GHCA adds all-day pre-K

HOULTON — Officials with Greater Houlton Christian Academy have announced the school is offering the option of full-day pre-kindergarten for 4-year-olds in addition to its regular morning program.
Students staying for the entire school day will participate in a planned program of enrichment activities during the afternoon. Children enrolled in the morning program will not be at a disadvantage compared to the students who stay all day because the afternoon activities will be designed to enhance and enrich while not covering new skills and learning material.
Head of School John Bishop said “with an increasing number of mothers working outside the home, we realized that requiring students to be picked up in the middle of the day presented a challenge for many parents. Now parents can enjoy the convenience of having their child in a caring, safe environment throughout the school day. By making the all-day program optional, parents who only want a partial program can still pick up their children earlier if they wish.”
