WARDWELL, Maxine R., 80, WASHBURN, in Mars Hill, May 7, 2010. Arrangements are in the care of Mockler Funeral Home.
WASHBURN – Maxine R. Wardwell, 80, wife of the late Darrell Wardwell died May 7, 2010, at Mars Hill following a long illness. She was born in Presque Isle, September 11, 1929, the daughter of the late Bert and Ethel (Ells) Sands. Mrs. Wardwell was a longtime member of the Caribou Assembly of God where she loved to attend church to worship her Lord and Savior as well as sing. Maxine also enjoyed volunteering and spending time at the Caribou Nursing Home, where she would sing for and visit the residents.
She is survived by her son, Stephen Wardwell of Woodland; and her daughter and son-in-law; Kim and Marty Clayton of Washburn; one brother and sister-in-law, Herbert and Ruby Sands of Caribou; four grandchildren, Jennifer and D.J Wardwell, and Justin and Kevin Clayton; two great-granddaughters, Emily and Isabella Clayton; several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Wardwell was predeceased by her husband Darrell in 2001 and a brother, Philip.
Friends called at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir Street, Caribou, 7-9 p.m., Monday. Funeral services were held 1 p.m., Tuesday, May 11, 2010, from the chapel of the Mockler Funeral Home with Rev. Tony Searles, pastor of the Caribou Assembly of God, officiating.
