Community Cellular expands to North Street location

HOULTON — Community Cellular, a local U.S. Cellular authorized agent for Houlton, moved to its new location at 300 North St. in Houlton during April of this year.
Previously, the locally-owned business operated a kiosk inside a Houlton retailer, but the growing customer base required more staffing and a larger facility.
On Friday, June 18, Community Cellular and U.S. Cellular celebrated the grand opening with an exceptional turnout, said Tim Griffin, owner.
The store was packed throughout the day and a ribbon-cutting ceremony was conducted by the Houlton Chamber of Commerce. Tim Hortons and Dunkin Donuts graciously supplied free coffee and donuts to the crowd that welcomed the opening of the newly finished facility.
Donna Izzo, Diane Winship, Lucy Royal and Nicole Beals are looking forward to continuing their efforts in providing U.S. Cellular’s products and services to the customers in and around the Houlton area.  Throughout the day, they had clients coming in from Presque Isle, Linneus, Patten, Island Falls, Lincoln and Danforth, not to mention Houlton. Everyone seemed quite impressed with the new store and its diverse line of wireless phones and accessories, added Griffin.
The new location has many phones to offer such as: Samsung, LG and Motorola. They also have many smart phones, such as BlackBerry and HTChat offering Internet and e-mail access, along with thousands of applications that allow a person to find directions, provide health tips and cooking recipes, games and customized music selections to listen to through the hand-held device.
Community Cellular also offers 3G wireless aircards, providing broadband Internet coverage on the go.
“The staff is particularly excited about its fantastic new selection of various accessories for your phone,” Griffin said. “In the kiosk, they could only carry a limited selection of these, but now they have walls full of different cases, pouches and carrying devices for cell phones as well as clip on face plates, expandable memory cards and more.”
The new store is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. or call, 521-0182.
