HOULTON — A vehicle stolen from a Sugarloaf Street residence has been recovered in Topsfield, Mass. According to Houlton Police Patrolman Steve Nason, a beige 2001 Toyota Camry owned by Howard Stacey of Houlton was stolen sometime between the evening of Monday, Sept. 6, and early morning hours of Tuesday, Sept. 7.
The vehicle was recovered by the Topsfield Police Department at 2:13 a.m. Wednesday. Nason said it was unknown if there was any damage to the vehicle. Nason added that Stacey would retrieve the vehicle, once Topsfield police finish their investigation. No suspects have been charged in the case.
Nason said two factors made it easier for the automobile to be stolen.
“The vehicle was not locked at Stacey’s residence and the keys were found inside the vehicle, but not in the ignition,” he said. “In my time here at HPD, I have never seen a vehicle actually broken into with a window smashed out. It’s always because the doors are unlocked and the keys are inside. Please, make our jobs easier and lock your car doors.”
Anyone with information on this case should contact the Houlton Police Department at 532-2287.
