Members of the Junior Auxiliary and the Sons of the American Legion Post 136 in Stockholm recently presented a program at the Post Home, raising funds for homeless veterans.

The evening opened as Kathy Robinson, president of the Perkins/Plourde Post 136 American Legion Auxiliary welcomed those in attendance, followed by Cindy Ketch singing the “Star Spangled Banner.”
One of the featured events of the Aug. 27 affair was a skit, presented in five scenes by the youth members, entitled “George,” during which the young patriots depicted the various stages of George’s life that led to him becoming a homeless veteran.
Also included in the program was an original dance performed by Elsa, Irene and Anna Thibodeau and Linda Callison assisted by her great-granddaughter Cammi King, singing, “Tell Me a Story.”
Phil Bosse, representing Sen. Susan Collins’ office, read a letter from the U.S. Senator, who stated, “Given all they have done to keep America free, we owe these brave men and women the best benefits we can provide to them, including assistance in finding adequate, safe and clean housing.”
A second guest speaker, Jerry Tucker, representing the Veterans Center spoke on the plight of homeless veterans in this country and what his particular office does to assist in alleviating these situation.
The Junior American Legion Auxiliary and the Sons of the American Legion provided a most proper grand finale for the fund-raising evening as they stood, waving small American flags, singing, “God Bless America.”

Dana Dixon was emcee for the evening, with Sandra Voisine as narrator and Myrna Dixon, stage director.
