CARIBOU — After a relatively cloud-free August, this month has passed on the rather precipitous side with a total of 4.22 inches of rain recorded in Caribou as of Monday for September, according to Mike Cantin, warning coordination meteorologist for the National Weather Service office in Caribou.

“There’ve only been seven days in September when we haven’t recorded precipitation in Caribou,” Cantin said.

Caribou normally averages about three inches of rain in September.

Heavier rain days this month were recorded on the 4th with 1.41 inches, the 8th with .8 inches, the 24th with .62 inches and the 25th with .36 inches.

With September’s soggy state, Caribou is .78 inches of precipitation above the average for the year and while snow is an obvious inevitable, today’s temperatures — expected to reach 73 degrees — are almost an homage to summer’s passing.
