Bargain Bonanza

Janet Barker, left, chairman of St. Mary’s annual rummage sale and volunteer Shirley Barker say they have been sorting some of the thousands of items that came in for Houlton’s popular long-running event. “There are all kinds of clothes for men, women and children as well as household items, books, warm bedding, shoes, toys, artwork and Christmas decorations. There is a little bit of everything,” Janet Barker explained. “You can buy jeans or sweatshirts like new for only $2. And, there’s a second-day half-price sale as well as a bag sale on Saturday when it’s only $5 for anything you can fit into a big garbage bag. We even furnish the bag.” The sale runs Thursday, Sept. 30 through Saturday, Oct. 2 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. in several rooms of St. Anthony’s Hall.
