SHAW, Vera F., 87, MARS HILL, November 17, 2010. Arrangements are in the care of Duncan Funeral Home, Mars Hill.

MARS HILL – Vera F. Shaw, 87, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, November 17, 2010, at the Aroostook Health Center in Mars Hill. She was born in Blaine on January 7, 1923, the daughter of James and Bernice (Tompkins) Gilman.
Vera was a faithful wife, loving mother and grandmother who devoted her life to taking care of her family. Her favorite past times were praying, reading her Bible and mail order shopping. She was a life–long member of the United Baptist Church in Mars Hill.
She is survived by a son, James Shaw and his wife, Deborah of Mars Hill; a daughter-in-law, Charlotte Shaw of Mars Hill; four grandchildren, Stacy Shaw, Stori Shaw, Erica McCrum, and Ryan Shaw; two great-grand-children, Hannah Shaw and Collin McCrum; several nieces and nephews; four lifelong friends including a special niece, Alta Weeks of Texas, Lois Belyea of Mars Hill, Norma Lowry of  Bridgewater, and Sybil Pierce of Blaine.
She was predeceased by her husband, Clyde E. “Pat” Shaw in 2001; a son, Clyde E. “Butch” Shaw in 1985; and eleven brothers and sisters.
Relatives and friends called at the Duncan Funeral Home in Mars Hill on Saturday, November 20, from 12 until the time of the service at 1 p.m. Pastor Lawrence Beals officiated. Interment was in Kings Grove Cemetery, Mars Hill, following the service. Donations in her memory may be made to New Brunswick Bible Institute, P.O. Box 828, Houlton, ME 04730. The family wishes to express their thanks to the staff at Southern Acres Residential Care Facility in Westfield and the staff at the Aroostook Health Center in Mars Hill for all the excellent loving care given to Vera.
