Teen struck by truck while riding ATV

CASTLE HILL – A 13-year-old boy who was struck by an oncoming pickup after failing to stop his all-terrain vehicle before entering the roadway has been treated and released from The Aroostook Medical Center.
According to Sgt. Forrest P. Dudley of the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office, the accident occurred around 11:35 a.m. Nov. 14 on the Dudley Road in Castle Hill.
The ATV was struck by a 2003 Chevrolet pickup operated by Brent Nickerson of Castle Hill. The minor, whose name is not being released because to his age, was thrown from the ATV and sustained non-life threatening injuries during the incident. The teen was transported to the hospital by Crown Ambulance.
“The minor was wearing a helmet during the incident, and both vehicles sustained significant damage,” said Dudley.
The accident was investigated by Deputy Ross McQuade, who was assisted at the scene by the Maine Warden Service and members of the Mapleton/Castle Hill/Chapman Fire Department.
Nickerson was uninjured.
