“Operation Christmas Child”

The Caribou High School National Honor Society members, recently completed one of their annual community service projects, “Operation Christmas Child.”

The event, sponsored by Samaritan’s Purse, a part of the Franklin Graham Ministry of North Carolina, has been an NHS community service project for the past four years. The project includes organizations filling Christmas-themed shoeboxes with a variety of items appropriate for both boys and girls, ages 4 to 12.

NHS Advisor Kenneth Atcheson stated, “This year, through the generosity of the students and staff at Caribou High School, the NHS was able to collect enough donations to pack 75 boxes. This breaks our record of 70 boxes of last year.”

NHS members Laura Collins and Brianna Gorence served as event co-chairs.

Items donated to fill the “Operation Christmas Child” shoeboxes included hard candy, small toys, soap, socks, toothbrushes/toothpaste, coloring books and colored pencils.
