Looking for Briggs connection

To the editor:

1st Lt. Frederick Olson Briggs, a pilot of a B-26 bomber during WWII, the B-26 took off from its airbase in England flying toward its target Cabourg France. After making a successful bombing run and on their way back to England their air group was attacked by enemy aircraft. During this encounter Briggs’ plane collided with a German FW-190 fighter plane, both fell to earth, killing all.

Now 65 years later parts from the B-26 have been recovered by the licensed French group Association Normandy Souvenir Aerien, in turn they asked the Lacey-Davis Foundation of California to find the crew’s families. ANSA will begin the process to have a Monument erected in the village near where the plane was found and the B-26 crew’s families will be asked to join the ceremony.

We need your help finding the family. Briggs was from Caribou, his parents names were Murray and Velva. His wife Adeline P. Briggs was reported living in Fort Fairfield. She remarried in 1946 and passed away in 1970. If you have any information concerning this family, please contact me at Lacey-Davis Foundation, 1309 North Brian Ave., Azusa, CA 91702; e-mail me at robstu45@verizon.net or call me (626) 815-1426.
