Knowlton, Edward Swen, 62, at Worcester, Mass., on September 27, 2010.

AR Edward KnowltonEdward (Eddie) Swen Knowlton, went to be with his Lord September 27, 2010 at UMASS Medical Center in Worcester, Massachusetts.

Born Sept. 20, 1948, in Caribou, the son of Frank and Regina A.C. (Swenson) Knowlton. Eddie is survived by his mother of Otter River, Mass; his wife Lorraine Curtis; and two sons, Peter E. and John H. Knowlton, both of Mass.

He also leaves two brothers, Paul R. Knowlton and Frank  I. Knowlton, both of New Hampshire; four sisters, April Reed of Cal.; Judi Lajoie of  Mass; Klaudia Mailett of AZ; and Carol Osborne-Sheahan of  Mass.

Eddie is also survived by 10 grandchildren, a special great-niece, Gena A. Knowlton and many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was predeceased by his father, Frank M. Knowlton in 1993.

Eddie spent his early years living in Stockholm and Caribou where he attended local schools. Over these years he enjoyed sliding, fishing and was considered to be an excellent potato picker. He often spoke of the time he spent sliding down the shortcut in Stockholm with his grandmother, Hildur Oberg.

Relocating with his family to Gardner, Mass. in the 1960s, where he graduated from high school and worked at Simplex Time Recorder and later owned Knowlton Lawncare, Eddie talked about going to Madawaska Lake and staying at the ‘red camp.’ His ties and thoughts remained strong with this area, waiting each week for his copy of the Aroostook Republican to arrive so he could find out what was going on, ‘back home.’

A gentle, kind, generous and loving man, Eddie will be missed immensely by all who knew and loved him.

Funeral services were held October 2.
