PRESQUE ISLE – Michael Shapiro, age 26, died unexpectedly at his home January 25, 2011. He was born May 5, 1984, in Geneva, Illinois.
Michael is survived by his loving family; parents, Ivan and Joan Shapiro (Fort Fairfield); his sister, Audrey Shapiro (Littleton, NH); nephew, Kyle McCullough (Fort Fairfield); uncle, Arthur Shapiro (Naples, FL); aunt Wilma Lockhart (Sterling, Illinois); aunt and uncle, Robert and Elaine Lockhart (Cleveland, Ohio); and his fiancée, Lindsay Buck (Presque Isle). We will all miss him.
Michael loved his family and friends. He was caring and compassionate. He often took care of others before himself. He graduated from Fort Fairfield High School in 2003. Michael loved riding his snowmobile, ATV and dirt bike. He enjoyed the outdoors including hunting and fishing.
Michael was self-employed, working in the construction industry.
A family-only religious service was held January 27. Friends may call Thursday, February 3, 2011, at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home in Presque Isle, from 7 to 9 p.m.
