Moosestompers ice fishing derby

    The seventh annual Moosestompers Ice Fishing Derby will be held this weekend on Drews, Nickerson, Cochrane, Bradbury lakes and Mill Pond.
    Categories are: Adult, largest togue, $75; largest brown trout, $75; largest brook trout/splake, $50 and largest pickerel, $25; Youth, largest togue, $50; largest brown trout, $50; largest brook trout/splake, $25 and largest pickerel, $15.
    Base camp and weigh-in is Rairdon’s Bait Shop in New Limerick. Pre-registration deadline is 8 p.m. Friday. Derby will be held on Saturday, Feb. 19 and Sunday, Feb. 20. All weigh-ins are due by 3 p.m. on Sunday at Rairdon’s Bait Shop.

sp togue cx pt 07NICE CATCH — Gage Finnemore, 12, caught a 2.7 pound Togue on Nickerson Lake during Hodgdon’s annual Ice Fishing Derby. The catch was good enough for first place in that category.

    There will be a cash draw grand prize of $500, along with raffle prizes including a Jiffy Ice Auger, as well as bonus door prizes. Derby registration with one grand prize raffle chance is $5; derby grand prize raffle with three chances, $10 and Jiffy Ice Auger raffle, one chance for $1 or six chances for $5. A person doesn’t even have to fish, just stop by one of the local vendors and purchase a ticket.
    Proceeds of the event will be donated to a local charity.
