Fred Osgood was honored at a recent basketball game in Easton. Fred has been a loyal fan of the Easton Bears for many years.

Fred Osgood was presented with a well-deserved plaque for his many years of faithful attendance to Easton basketball games. Pictured from left are: Tom Osgood, Fred Osgood and Frank Keenan, Easton’s superintendent.

He used to be a basketball star in Easton a few years ago. Fred’s children also played basketball for Easton. Tom and Jeff, his sons, played ball for Easton and Tom made over 1,000 points in his high school career. His daughters, Laurie and Julie, played for the Lady Bears in Easton.

Fred also opened his barn, that had a basketball hoop in it, to many, many kids in town. Many hours were spent playing basketball in Fred’s barn. The barn was never closed and Fred trusted everyone to come in and play.

Fred is to be thanked for many great basketball players in this town, for letting them practice for hours in his barn. Thank you, Fred, for all that you did. Lots of great memories were made in that barn that will last in the hearts of many basketball players forever.
