Walks offer historic look at downtown Presque Isle

 PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Whether you are driven by curiosity or happen to be a bit of a history buff, a walking tour offered during the coming months will give participants an opportunity to learn a bit more about the community and the many landmarks within the city.

“The Presque Isle Historical Society offers a free walking tour of the historic downtown section of Presque Isle. The tour begins at 10 a.m. and lasts approximately two hours and covers about two miles,” said Kim Smith, tour guide and treasurer/recording secretary for the Historical Society.

The tour begins and ends at the Vera Estey House, located at 16 Third Street.

They are scheduled to take place once a month between April and September. On-street parking is available.

“Tours will be held on the following Saturdays, weather permitting: April 30, May 21, June 11, July 23, Aug. 27 and Sept. 24,” said Smith.
