Karen Donato spoke to students at Wellington Elementary School to get their thoughts on these
home improvement questions.
“How would you design your back yard?”
Gage Folsom
Pre-K
“I would have a monkey, a tiger, gorilla, a snake and a kangaroo. I would keep them in a big box.”

Kindergarten
“I’d like a toy car with a little toy engine, a picnic table with flowers on it and four little houses; a pink one, a blue one, a red one and a black one. If I could invite someone to play, it would be Paige and Mrs. Donato.”
Jaydin Jones
Kindergarten
“I would make a big slide and swings. I would like a yellow scooter to ride on the grass.”

First Grade
“I would have three club houses, one for me, my brother, A. J. and my sister, Jess. I would like another set of swings and a whole bunch of flowers, so I could pick them for my mom. I would have a place for my four horses, too.”
Parker Carmichael
First Grade
“I would like an in-ground pool with a diving board. I don’t want chlorine in it, so I could dive underwater with my eyes open. I would like to get rid of the coldness in the air and the water, so I could swim anytime and I would need something to get rid of the bees.”

First Grade
“If I could design my backyard, I would have a big swing set, monkey bars, a slide and a kickball field. My dad would be happy to see my family play in the backyard.”
What are polyurethane and sheetrock?
Haley Muncey
Second Grade
“I think polyurethane is a roof. Sheetrock is fabric for a rug or curtains. It would be strong for people to walk on and the curtains would block out the sun.”

Second Grade
“Polyurethane is a gas used for anything that is gas powered. Never heard of sheetrock. Maybe it’s oil under a house.”
Devin Folsom
Second Grade
“Polyurethane might be a hotel. Sheetrock is a paper that you paint on.”

Third Grade
“I have no idea what polyurethane is. Sheetrock is a rock with a sheet over it.”
Dawson Toby
Third Grade
“Polyurethane is a name. Sheetrock is something you put on your walls to cover up the wood, then you paint it and screw stuff into it, like a mirror.”

Third Grade
“Polyurethane is a big building. Sheetrock is a rock that looks like a sheet. That one’s tricky.”
