Other contents include garden supplies, candles, flowers, Dunkin Donuts coffee mugs, car wash coins and more. All basket contents have been donated by local businesses. Each basket is valued at $100.
Tickets for the baskets can be purchased at Scraps or from local volunteers Toni and William Hetherington, Dina Smith, Missy Trecartin and Brad Lambert. Cost is $2 each or three for $5. Each ticket provides a chance to win one of the six baskets. The baskets can be seen on display at Scraps.
Toni Hetherington is in charge of heading up the event. She would like to personally thank all of the businesses that contributed for their overwhelming support.
“My dad Richard Sherwood has always shared the importance of sharing the power of faith, hope and love for others’ children and God. He once shared with me ‘while we try to teach our children about life, our children are busy teaching us what life is all about,” said Hetherington.
“Children have such strong positive uplifting spirits and faith. I find it a blessing to be able to assist the Make-A-Wish Foundation in giving to these children in their time of need.”
Make a Wish is a non-profit program that grants wishes to children who have major life-altering diagnosis.
The last Make-A-Wish bake sale took place two years ago and raised over $1,900 for the Maine chapter. Proceeds from the event were a major contribution to a tree house that was given to 8-year-old Leif Dahlk of Littleton.
The bake sale and raffle will take place April 29 from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and April 30 from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Anyone who would like to buy tickets or donate baked goods for the sale can contact Toni Hetherington at (207) 694-2198.
