by Lois Downing
Take Off Pounds Sensibly Chapter 0233 of Houlton met at the Aldergate building on High Street for its Friday, April 30 meeting.
Seventeen members attended; four of these were KOPS (Keep Off Pounds Sensibly). Denise Clark, leader, led the meeting. She distributed copies of “What’s the Attraction?” We all recited it and then our pledges.
Charlotte Marley gave each person a new May basket. Thanks very much, Charlotte. They are very beautiful. Charm lady Melva Folsom gave charms: Betty Ivey for leeway, Linda Cassidy for best loser for December and Diane Folsom for perfect attendance.
Loser of the week was Margaret Hagerman with Melva Folsom runner-up. Joyce Estey took home the skinny dish earnings. Appointed by Denise were Lois Downing, publicity, Betty Ivey, greeting cards and Brenda Lacostic, photographer.
Barbara Grant led the group in several minutes of exercises. The meeting was turned over to Barbara Grant who talked on killers in your pantry. She told how me should cut back on box crackers and cookies, cook with olive oil, use cinnamon, turmeric and ginger in our cooking. Try to eat 4-8 servings of fruits and vegetables each day.
The next meeting will be May 6. Meetings are at 9 o’clock, after an 8-8:45 a.m. weigh-in each Friday. If you wish more information about the chapter, you may call Charlotte Marley at 757-8483 or Betty Ivey at 532-9653.
