Blessed with a caring community

To the editor:
When there is a cry for help, the outpouring of concern and the overwhelming generosity of my friends, family and townspeople never cease to amaze me. My step-father went in the hospital for a four-day stay to have triple bypass surgery and ended up there for 2 and a half weeks before coming home (suffering a stroke in the process), now only to have to return for another unexpected surgery. Not a day went by that someone did not write, call or visit.
Since returning home, we had a benefit supper and the number of attendees was such a joy to see. People that could not come and eat dropped off cards and best wishes.
My heart swells with pride to have the privilege to know such good, caring and honest people.
We give our thanks ten-fold to everyone of you who sent a prayer, sent a card, helped pay our bills and/or gave a lending hand at our supper. You are truly a top class of people and will always hold a spot in our hearts.
