OAKFIELD and ROCKY HILL, Conn. – Carl Morton, 87, died April 30, 2011 at Rocky Hill Veteran’s Home, Rocky Hill, Conn. He was born Nov. 9, 1923 in Howesbrook, the son of Moses and Vanessa (Porter) Morton.
While in Maine, he worked for Bangor and Aroostook Railroad. After moving to Connecticut, he worked in factories as a foreman. Carl served in World War II as a corporal in the Army, serving in Company A, 594 Engineer Boat and Shore Regiment in the Philippines.
He is survived by a very special friend and caregiver, Mike “Angel” Colon; two brothers, the Rev. Donald Morton Sr. and his wife, Evelyn, of Mapleton and Gordon and his wife, Cherrylyn, of Oakfield; one sister, Rita Pratt and her husband, Robert, of Oakfield; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; three brothers, Ivan, Nelson and Robert; and one sister, Edith Edna.
Funeral services with full military honors will be held 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Oakfield Cemetery with the Rev. Donald Morton Sr. officiating.
