PRESQUE ISLE – Eleanor May Gould, 78, passed away Mon., April 25, 2011, at her residence in Presque Isle. She was born on January 8, 1933, in Castle Hill, the daughter of Freeman E. and Viola V. (Vallette) York.

She worked many years as a live-in housekeeper. Eleanor was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 2599 in Presque Isle. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by two daughters and their husbands: Billie A. and Kenneth L. Roy of Washburn, and Gloria and Ron Legassie Jr. of Presque Isle; a brother, Alden York and his wife, Helen of Presque Isle; a sister, Elizabeth E. Blethen of Bangor; three grandchildren: David B. Roy, Daniel A. Roy, and Lacie M. Legassie.

She was predeceased by an infant daughter; three brothers: Walter J., Freeman E. Jr., and Albert York; and a sister, Ethland Rose Randall.

A memorial service was held 1 p.m., Friday, at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle, with Rev. Ken Fox officiating. Friends called from noon until time of service at the funeral home. Online condolences may be expressed at duncan-graves.com
