Proceeds from the evening will help annual Fourth of July festivities
LIMESTONE — Whether the confusion comes in determining the perfect pinot pairing or understanding the difference between syrah and shiraz, the Limestone Chamber of Commerce has organized an event to answer questions on vin and vino while providing an opportunity to expand one’s palate.
With proceeds going toward the town’s famed Fourth of July festivities, the Chamber is orchestrating a Wine Tasting and Silent Auction on Friday, May 20 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Limestone Country Club, sponsored by the country club and Mike’s Family Market.
The wine list for the tasting hasn’t been announced yet, but officials aim to provide samples of two red wines, two white wines and two dessert wines.
Keith Madore and Carolyn Dorsey will be the sommeliers of the evening, answering any questions on the libations that tasters might have.
“They have done similar events in the area and we’re extremely anxious to hear all they have to share with us about wine,” said Chamber official Grace O’Neal.
Officials have also made certain that wines available for the tasting are affordable and available locally.
A silent auction will also be featured throughout the tasting event, featuring items donated by local businesses with all proceeds benefiting the Limestone Fourth of July events.
Participants of the wine tasting must be at least 21 years old with a valid ID. Tickets are $20 per ticket and $35 per couple; they can be purchased in advance at AL-BEAR’S, BLVD Graphix or the Limestone Town Office. Additional information can be obtained by calling O’Neal at 325-3491.
