University celebrates 102nd commencement ceremony

BETTER LATE THAN NEVER —
Edward Holden,
a member of the Normal School’s Class of 1943,
accepts his certificate of graduation from UMPI Pres. Don Zillman.
Holden had all but graduated when he was called to serve his country during World War II.
He went on to become an educator, working over 40 years as a teacher with various school systems on the East Coast, including a few years in Presque Isle.

The Hennes now reside in North Carolina but Ivy was born in Presque Isle, where her mother graduated from PIHS in 2003, going on to pursue her teaching degree with UMPI.
