This is a local group of quilters that first formed for Make A Difference Day in October of 2010, but then continued to meet weekly throughout the winter. They meet on Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Washburn Trailrunners Clubhouse, and quilt weekly from October to May, and then monthly throughout the summer.

This fall they will be hosting another Make a Difference Day quilting project on Oct. 22 and would love to invite all of last year’s participants, plus anyone else that would be interested in joining them for the day or for part of the day.Group members include Millie Bennett, Laurie Blackstone, Mary Jane Sperrey, Joanne Bouchard, Delores Woodman and Rhonda Sperrey.

Most of their quilting has been for Hospice Memory Quilts for Hospice of Aroostook, but they have also done other projects. They have donated a quilt to the Washburn August Festival Committee to raffle off as a fundraiser. Raffle tickets will be available soon for this quilt, which is a full-sized Ohio Star pattern. Raffle tickets will be available from August Festival Committee members, and also at the Washburn branch of Katahdin Trust Company.
