At a time when so many have lost jobs due to the economic slump that has affected so many, a national company with branches throughout Aroostook County is honoring two of its employees for a quarter of a century each of service to the business and the communities they serve.

“Congratulations go to Jeff Stephenson and Vaughn Farrar for giving 25 years of dedicated service to UPS. They both have demonstrated exceptional work and safe driving records,” said Debbie Lunn, UPS supervisor.

Stephenson has worked in a few UPS facilities in Maine.

“He began his career as a part-time pre-loader in Fort Fairfield in the mid-1980s. He started his delivery career by spending a few years in Bangor before transferring to the Presque Isle center. In 2003, he transferred to the Houlton building,” said Lunn.

According to Lunn, Stephenson first drove the route in the Lee/Springfield area and now is serving customers in the Island Falls, Sherman and Patten area.

“Jeff has proven his dedication by giving attention to details. He cares about each package he delivers and excels at getting his job done in the most efficient way possible,” Lunn said.

Stephenson lives in Mapleton with his wife, Jane, and their two children, Jenna, a sophomore at Eastern Maine Community College in Bangor, and Jonah, who is a sophomore at Presque Isle High School.

Farrar has also worked at several locations during his quarter century with the company.

“Vaughn began working for UPS at the original Island Falls center and has worked in our centers in Maine, including Calais, Brewer, Fort Fairfield and finally in the Houlton building. Vaughn worked 15 years delivering in the Houlton area which is considered to be the most rigorous delivery run in our center,” said Lunn.

“Later, he delivered the areas south toward Danforth and did the Route 2 area for several years,” said Lunn, noting the company has received compliments on Farrar’s service. “Customers through the years have often expressed what a kind, friendly and dependable driver Vaughn has been.”

Farrar resides in his hometown of Hodgdon with his wife, Shelly. They have two children, Drew and Lacey, who are recent graduates of Indiana Wesleyan University. Both children currently reside in North Webster, Ind.
