American Flag Color    Monticello & Houlton – Chester K. Nickerson, 85, died June, 4, 2011 at a local hospital. He was born Nov. 23, 1925 in Monticello, the son of Kenneth and Minnie (Collins) Nickerson.
    Chester served with the US Navy during WWII and later joined the US Marines during the Korean War, where he was a Prisoner of War. He married his beloved wife Muriel in 1955. He worked for the B&A Railroad, Aroostook County Sheriffs Department, the Town of Monticello and numerous construction companies as a heavy equipment operator.
    He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, DAV, American Ex-Prisoner of War, Korean War Veterans Assoc., and the Odd Fellows Lodge. Chester was a proud veteran who was very active in the Memorial Day and POW/MIA Day ceremonies.
    He was known by his family and friends as a humorous practical joker who loved to make people laugh.
    He is survived by his daughters, Arlene and her husband, Robert Wright, of Fort Fairfield, Wilda Fonseca of Old Orchard, and Marie Bragdon of Woodstock, NB. Canada; brothers, Gene of Houlton, and Fenton and his wife, Jeanette, of Sidney; sisters, Serita Hammond of Houlton, and Katherine Dube and her husband, Larry, of Oakfield; nine grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
    Friends called at the Dunn Funeral Home 6 to 8 p.m. Tues. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home 11 a.m. Wed.
