Colson Theriault enjoys helping his sister Abby, foster litters of kittens for Halfway Home Pet Rescue, including Trixie, shown above. Colson and Abby’s parents are Cole and Lindsey Theriault of Caribou. Fostering enables young kittens to socialize with families in a good home situation which prepares the kitten for adoption. HHPR is also looking for volunteer foster homes for adult cats for a three- to five-week stay at a time. All HHPR adult cats are litter box trained, leukemia/AIDS tested, spayed/neutered, have all their shots, cleared of any parasites and treated with a parasite prevention treatment. High school students can earn community service credits by caring for HHPR cats. A home inspection may be required if the family is unknown to members of the HHPR Board of Directors; parent approval and attendance is required for the student interview. If you are interested in becoming a foster home for an adult cat, please call 492-1722 or e-mail norma@halfwayhomepetrescue.org for an application and to schedule an interview.
