Eastern Aroostook Alternative High School graduates eleven

Eleven Caribou and Limestone students graduated from the Eastern Aroostook Alternative High School Program in Caribou on Friday, June 10, during graduation exercises which were preceded by a family and friends luncheon.

Members of the Class of 2011 at the Eastern Aroostook Alternative High School in Caribou participated in graduation exercises held at the Caribou Learning Center on June 10. Recent graduates are, from left: Nila Bergin, Kristin McBreairty, Ashlee Gagnon, Jessica Albert, Codie Robbins, Anthony Skidgel, James Ransier, Macie Jones, Stephanie Madore, Cheryl Drost and Hillary Ballard.

Dan MacDonald, director of the Caribou Learning Center spoke to the graduates, congratulating them on their achievements and for the strength they showed overcoming obstacles in their live.

Hillary Eve Ballard , class speaker, addressed her classmates, wishing them the best in the future. Following Codie Troy Robbins, who presented a poetry reading; a carnation ceremony took place during which the students presented a flower to a friend or family member in appreciation of their continuing support.

Students receiving special awards during the mid-day graduation event included: Hillary Ballard who was presented with the Personal Growth Award; Nila Bergin was awarded the Academic Excellence Award and the Director’s Award, was given to Jessica Albert by MacDonald.

The Responsible Citizenship Award, presented to an underclassman  enrolled in the alternative high school program, was given to Kemzen Brown.

Frank McElwain, RSU 39 superintendent, assisted by Lois Brewer, assistant RSU39 superintendent  awarded the students their high school diplomas.

Graduates included: Jessica Albert, Hillary Ballard, Nila Bergin, Cheryl Drost, Macie Nicole Jones, Stephanie Madore, Kristin McBreairty, Codie Robbins and Anthony Skidgel, all of Caribou; and Ashlee Gagnon and James Ransier of Limestone.
