The Caribou Police Department is asking for the public’s help in locating Christopher Bragg, a 29-year-old local man who escaped from police last Thursday.

Bragg is wanted in connection with several outstanding warrants. He was reportedly a passenger in a car that was pulled over on Limestone Street on Thursday around 10:30 a.m. but he bolted before police could take him into custody.

“Bragg has five warrants, including domestic violence and failure to pay a fine. He can add to that escape, which is a Class C felony,” said Chief Mike Gahagan, CPD.

Bragg escaped into the nearby wooded area before the officer could take him into custody. The department began a ground search, joined by U.S. Border Patrol agents who searched by air, but law enforcement were unable to locate him. The search has been broadened to surrounding communities, where Bragg is believed to have friends and family.

Gahagan believes Bragg is still in the area and is asking anyone with information on his whereabouts to contact the department at 493-3301.

“He’s still at large. He’s from Castle Hill and has family in the area. We believe he may be staying with a relative,” said Gahagan.

Bragg was last seen wearing a black T-shirt, black pants and high rubber boots with orange bottoms. He is described as having a lean build with closely cropped dark brown hair and facial hair.

When caught, Bragg faces jail time.

“I doubt the judge will grant him bail, given all the charges. Given he’s added escape — a felony — to his list of charges, he’s looking at jail time,” said Gahagan.
